Pharmacy Technicians help licensed pharmacists by helping prepare prescribed medication for patients, counting tablets, answer telephones, receive written prescriptions, verifying written prescriptions, taking refill requests and much more. Pharmacy Technicians need special training in order to become qualified to work in most pharmacy settings. You can work in retail or a hospital, I think hospitals pay more. They're in demand cuz retail pharmacy chains pop up all over the place. Do your work and you'll be certified or have a 2 year degree. And if you don't like it just go back to school and try a new trade.

I am a pharmacist tech and basically I do everything a pharmacist does. I answer the phone, I enter scripts in the computer, I fill scripts, I label the bottles and put the meds in the bottle. I give the meds to the patients. I work in a hospital pharmacy and make more money then a retail pharmacy. Some states you have to be certified, but not all states require that. I certified tech makes a bit more money . Mostly I find that learning is a hands on situation. It is a good job. I have done it now for 17 years. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

You fill pill bottles, put prescription information into the computer and answer phones. In hospitals, you might help make IVs. It's illegal for a pharm tech to give any advice about a medication.
