Very possible it's a hematoma. Your epigastric artery in your stomach may have ruptured which is what's causing the hematoma. Get to the doctor and don't leave until they help you...anytime you have a lump on your body it's not good.

I don't want to scare you, but I agree you should seek another doctor and ask him about scar tissue. My brother in law had an emergency appendectomy and a few years later the scar tissue spread and wrapped around his intestines causing him life threatening surgery with gangrene. He amazingly made it thru that surgery (they had to put him in a self-induced coma). But years later developed colon cancer that spread to liver cancer. He just died Jan. 16th, and we are very much in mourning. If I can help someone learn from this then I will feel better about loosing our wonderful and very much missed family member. I sincerely think his was a rare case, but I never new scar tissue could present a problem and want to make everyone aware who has ever has surgery. Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Definitely you should seek another doctor or the surgeon who did the procedure. Go back to the doctor and tell him its constantly hurting. you could be developing an abscess underneath which could burst and you would be in a large amount of trouble. Being an rn in the med surg unit i would definitely advise you to seek help, Go to the er and make it sound worse than it is so they can do an ultrasound or kub--(x-ray).
