At least you don't have to deal with the Patriot Act, and Department of Homeland Security!! If we say something against the gov here in the U.S., they can read our mail;go through our library records;search our house or work; confiscate our computers, all WITHOUT probable cause or a search warrant!!

I think what you have to be aware of on here is that you are on someone elses' blog' page (as such) and therefore are subject to their sensibilities and hypocracies as to what is 'acceptable' or 'not acceptable' However I don't feel that is representative of 'free speech' in the UK in general. Although I believe some issues such as PC people and racism have gone a bit 'bananas' to the point that there seems to be one rule for some and a totally different one for others even in defining what racism is!

I wish the UK was still a free country for speech but with everyone being continually under pressure to appear 'politically correct' all the time I'm afraid opinions are a luxury now, not a right.

i believe in free speech but i also believe in morality - i would never say anything to hurt the feelings or beliefs of another person - no matter how i feel about them. I guess it's just different ways of getting your point across - some people just like to humiliate and completely rip apart something - instead of etiquettly explaining what it is they find annoying...

Well, I agree with you. Unfortunately, there are forces at work to prevent free speech and I don't need to tell you the folks I'm talking about! PC robots who don't have an original idea in their heads.

I live in the US and here you get reported for being a racist. It just kills me. Every once in a while, I throw caution to the wind and just tell people what I think. They can't take us away in the middle of the night & disappear us yet!

Because the Government (AKA supreme soviet) has decided that there can only be one point of view on many subjects and to deviate from the dictated view means we must all be racist, sexist, homophobic or some other criminal.

free speech don't mean you piss off somebody when he/she's looking for a good time- may I ask what right you may have to spoil another person's day?

You are entitled to free speech. Don't allow others to talk over you.
