Definitely!
I'm still friends with my first love. Its been 10 years since we broke up. Absolutely no mixed emotions either.

You know I would say it all depends on the situation, most of the time first love's are the most heartbreaking break ups. If you guys are on good terms I would say you can still be friends, but usually not a lot of people stay friends with thier first love...

Absolutely! I'm really good friends with the first boy who ever said he loved me and my first long-term serious relationship. I'm as close with each of them as I am with any of my best girlfriends. Being friends with someone who has been through so much with you emotionally adds a whole new aspect to the friendship. You'll understand each other in ways that regular platonic friends can't. My only advice is to be sure your romantic feelings for each other are completely resolved before you try to become close friends or you run the risk of someone getting hurt.

I am friends with my first love. It's a wierd situation though. I try to avoid talking to her about my relationships and she does the same.

Depends on how the relationship ended...sometimes a friendship after it could be awkward.
