I changed the background on my desktop. Now I need to change the text labels under the icons because I can't read them. I have Windows XP home Edition. How do I do this????? I have gone to Display, Apperance, Advanced but find no place to edit the text color.

if the background is say black or dark, then the icon names should have been white lettering. there are no ways to change this.

Right click on the desktop, Properties dialog box comes up. Click Desktop tab, click Color arrow, select a color that will show up on your new background and will also allow white text to be visible. Click OK.

The icon text will still be white but the new color you selected should allow you to read the text. If not, keep choosing colors until everything is just right for you.

I have never used any of them, but there seem to be some free utilities that can do this for you.

Scroll down and look for ActivIcons
