now some private schools want to use public tax money for their schools. i don't think they should get funds if they don't hav to be accountable to the state gov't. i don't think public school money should be taken out of schools, to start "alternative" or charter schools, it should be used to improve the schools we already have

Yeah, you are right.

But, seriously, our schools are messed up! Most of the problems here begin in children's minds; then they grow up with those same beliefs and the country falls apart!

There's more to the voucher system than you think. In many communities, the only schools that are good are the private schools. Putting a school voucher system in effect would make the schools competitive. Our children have the right to a 'free and appropriate' education. What about the communities where the public schools are ineffective, and therefore inappropriate? If a school is not effective, then the parents should have the option to send their child to a school that's going to work. Under a voucher system, if a school failed to get good results, they would no longer be able to be a school, and the community wins. Who would want a school that is horrible to stay? If the school is very effective, then they would be able to stick around, and the community again wins. What's the problem with that?
