Other than being fattening, white rice is pretty useless.

Try theses grains as healthy rice replacements:

Spelt
Barley
Whole Wheat Couscous
Quinoa
Wild Rice
Brown Rice

Rice does not have much nutrition, nor is it bad for your health. Lentils on the other hand are very nutritious. They contail protein among other things. The combination of rice and lentils is very good. Actually this is a very popular Arabic dish called "mujeddere".

Not necessarily bad for you, but it could get boring without a bit of variety. I used to make lentils and rice into tostadas with corn tortillas, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and lettuce. And, I used to also make a casserole that included ripened olives, honey and cheese added to the lentil mixture. You want to make sure that your getting enough protein and veges and fruits.
