I wanted to do something like that and enquired about a humanist ceremony. The only reason I didn't go ahead with their family ceremony (which sounded perfect) was because I might have had to invite a whole bunch of people I didn't want there so decided in the end to have a kind of ceremony of our own which involved watching DVDs and eating snacks! Its a brilliant idea and I hope you get something organised.

Some places let you "write your own vows" around the two basic legal statements ("I, John Smith, declare that I am legally free to marry you, Jane Jones" and "I, Jane Jones, call upon these persons here present that I take you, John Smith, to be my lawful husband.") so it is probably possible for you to make up what seems appropriate to your situation, if you choose the right venue.

Do check with all the children though, that they would be happy to take part in such a ceremony. My mother remarried when I was 10 and I personally wished she wasn't marrying him, so I would not have liked to be part of such a ceremony, but my mother might well have leaned on all of us to do so. She made us change our surnames to her new husband's and it was only when we grew up that we changed them back.

What a lovely idea. Talk with your minister or priest and see if it can be included, maybe after your vows as husband and wife.

Or, maybe you could have a ceremony for this at the reception.
