You can do this with a calculator or with a pencil and paper. First, write down or punch in the year you were born. The whole 4 number year. Next, think of a year that is important to you for some reason. It must be a year in which you were alive. Then add that 4 number year to the year you were born. Next, think in your head how many years it been since that special year and add that number to the other two. Last, add you age to the three numbers above. What number did you come up with. Could it be 4013?

It's a nice trick, but don't be suprised, it's obvious what she is asking.
Your birth year- any year, doesn't really matter
Year with special event- again, any year, doesn't really matter either
So we have two years...
Years since special event- 2007-"special event"
Your age- How many years it has been since you were born
So it is adding two years together along with 2007 minus the first year, and 2007 minus the second year.
If the year increases, the years since decreases, keeping the sum of both numbers constant no matter what years they are.
And yes, the only possible difference is if you already have had your birthday this year. Obviously this person has not so when she figured out what the magic number is she saw it as 4013. (If you have already had your birthday, yes, it is 4014.

Year I was born + my age today = 2006 because it is the beginning of the year
some random year plus the difference between then and now = 2007
so the sum of this is 4013

Yup. Someone else said it, it only works for people that haven't had their birthday this year. It was 4014 for me, and I just added any numbers, it didn't have to be special... Cool, though.
Edit: for all those people who got the wrong number, and not 4013 or 4014, use a calculator, cause your math sucks.

No it desn't work for me
Year I was born 1991+
Important event year 1995+ so far: 3986
Years since 12 so far: 3998
Age 16 TOTAL: 4014
I guess it only works for people who haven't had their birhtday already in 2007 could that be why???
