I'm just 16 and my parents wants me to find a girlfriend but I don't want to, cause I'm going to join the U.S armed force and die or survive in battle.

I can't imagine why your parents are pushing you to get a girlfriend. What is their problem? Are they fearful that you're gay or something? And you call a person who isn't going to marry "single" and leave him alone to enjoy his life the way he wants it. Your parents need to back off on the girlfriend thing. Whether you end up with one is entirely up to you and fate and they should just accept you for the gifts you have right now. I'm also concerned about your quasi-death-wish of dying in battle. You know, life doesn't have to be live or die, married or single. There are so many great things you can enjoy in your lifetime that are enriching and fulfilling. Are you suffering from a little depression maybe? Please do yourself a favor and talk to your school counselor or another adult who is qualified to help you deal with your emotions. At your age, you're going through a lot of physical and mental changes and challenges. Sorry to say that it doesn't sound like your parents are helping you in the transition from kid to adult, either. You need someone who is going to help you find reasons to be optimistic and look forward to what the future could hold for you.

Your so young...you have a few more years to think about what you want to do. Do you want to go into the Armed Forces because you want to get away from your family? If so, then move out and get your own place!

your parents are worried about you joining the military but you can get a good education, I recommend joining the Navy they have the most money and they educate in electronics and such better than the rest

Honey, you are sixteen years old and you will change your mind probably a zillion times before you make all the decisions about your adult life. I say just chill out and be yourself and let things happen when they happen. You have an entire lifetime ahead of you!!

You will find a girlfriend when you are ready for that in your life. Nothing wrong with just having friends and not feeling like you have to be in a relationship.

Oh, Lee, you're so young & have such a grim outlook on life---you don't have to have a partner until & if you're ready. I pray you are safe in your service to our country.
