The father of a young girl who died of exposure had knocked her unconscious because he was angry she wouldn't go to bed, then took her outside in freezing temperatures and left her there, police said before the man's arraignment Thursday.

Nyia Miangel Page, who was about to turn 2, was found dead Sunday on a wooded knoll about a 10 minute walk from the family's home.

Tiny footprints in the snow suggested she had gotten up and wandered around before she died, police said.

Her father, William Lorenzo Page, 23, of Braddock, was arrested on charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping, false reports and simple assault. He did not have an attorney in court Thursday morning, and was jailed without bond.

This kind of story makes me sick, really physically sick: dizzy, my head spins and I want to puke. Just imagine the poor baby waking up in the freezing temperature, hurt and alone, crying for help which will never come...

It is unconscionable.

Jason is right, death is not the answer. A lifelong of guilt in a squallid prison is what this scum needs. And no matter how terrible a punishment is met unto him, it will never erase the terrible pain his own daughter experienced before dying.

How can anyone hurt a kid... it is beyond me...

In my own opinion, I would like to give him life in prison, and not the needle. Why? Because if he were to get the needle he would spend what? 10 years of his life behind bars and then die. Big whoop. But now, if he were to spend say, 40 - 50 years in prison, each and everyday he would wake up and remember WHY he's in a 6 X 8 cell, because he killed his two year daughter. Killing someone because they killed someone else...doesn't take the victm back on earth. I think Guilt is the best punishment we could give. He's 23 years old and had a life ahead of himself, and a two year old daughter who could have been the scientist to find a cure for cancer. Would he spend the rest of his life in prison, he will learn to: 1. Grieve his daughters death correctly 2. Think about the huge huge huge mistake he made 3. Live knowing for the rest of his life that if for that split second he hadn't taken his daughter outside and left her there, he would be out in the free world enjoying this time and raising his daughter. Now that is a punishment. He has to live each day KNOWING what he did.

She is in a better place now, although I realize that is not much solace. People that deliberately hurt children........for this man-castrate him in the frozen woods and then let him wander around too.

There would be no loss to the world but would rather see him get the same as what he gave.
