I really don't get it! I've been hearing it recently from people, but I really don't get how or when you're suppossed to use it! I don't even know where it originated from. (Although I think Fergie says it in one her new songs, but I don't know it that's where it started).

Please help!

I do and that i think of that is advantageous. right here is why. First, from the Evangelical attitude. If we seem at this commandment (Deuteronomy 5:11) we see that the be conscious for call is "shem" and the be conscious for "in ineffective" is "shev'." Thsse words are remarkably no longer worry-free to translate into English and characteristic in many circumstances been taken to seek advice from the easy speech act of asserting "oh my God" or something of the variety. yet shem (call) surely potential extra like the attributes and identity linked with what we call a attractiveness extremely than the surely be conscious this is the call itself. And shev' (in ineffective) potential extra like the state of being hollow and pointless, without meaning or importance. What that commandment is telling us is that we could continually take God heavily. Now, i'm no longer Evangelical and that i do no longer join any regulations, particularly from the previous testomony, save the two concepts to love God and Love my neighbor. asserting "Oh my God" as an exclamation does no longer advise something because of the fact it rather is relating the situation handy being a marvel or out of the traditional. As such, it has an implicit meaning we are conveying approximately God - he ordered each and everything, he comforts and protects. and surely, we don't even advise that. that is merely syllables we utter an thay have no longer something to do with loving God or others yet they positioned across our meaning properly and that's good adequate for me!

It originated from that's so Raven. Ya know the tv show. Fergie doen't say that in one of her new songs. That song is called London Bridges and she say's Oh ****. The edited version on the radio says oh snap. Just say it when something is whack or a hot mess

Well oh snap got started before whoever Fergie is was even out. It means like OMG!!!!!!! It's just another phrase used to emphasize that. It came out in the 90s. Shows like "Moesha" and "The Parkers" were avid users of this phrase. Use it whenever, but it is kind of played out. So I wouldn't even worry about it, it's slang just like every other made up word. I hope this answered your question.

I would say....never. I don't think that is a very mature or intelligent way to phrase a reaction.

Usually these days, it takes the place of "Oh, burn!" One of my friends uses it when she drops or breaks something, but it doesn't make much sense.
