From Henry Ford to the present day Ford have made affordable cars for the masses. Ford have also made some of the great classic cars and sports cars which have defined their era. Heny Ford was the first manufacturer to introduce specialisation and the production line into the manufacturing process. As with all manufacturers corrosion, and reliability was a problem in cars upto the mid eighties, but they still made some of the great cars, Zepher, Zodiac, Cortina, Escort, Capri, Granada and upto date the Focus, Mondeo, Fiesta and Galaxy.
Today Ford cars are cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, well built, reliable and good to drive.
If you don't want to pay an extra 10 grand for a badge and you want something to last then you can't do better.
Just remember there has never been a good French car, Japanese cars are built for migets and are dull to drive. German cars are overpriced and the stuff from the Pacific Rim is all junk (Hyundia, Kia, Proton)

Fords are ok cars, ive had a few in my time. The newer ones are better quality than the older ones and they do seem to drive on and on.

The best selling ford's are the focus, im not sure why because they were individual when they came out, although we are all used to them now! they are about average on the euro ncap tests. comfortable and a good ride quality.
The new ones are a recommendation from me, they do well in ncap tests, they are resonably economical and they are comfy, if you go for the st model its quick too.

I wouldnt touch a Fiesta, just had a brand new one for 3 weeks from a hire company, very poor quality, little MPG. very uncomfortable and slow.

Focus c-max is comfortable but does not act well as a mini mpv, doesnt look all that good either.

Ford Ka is a nasty piece of work, they are economical but very ugly.

Escort, a cheap car on the used car market, this was the model taken over by the focus, still alot of these about although they are all noisey and uneconomical.

Mondeo, these are family vehicles, dont do anything special, dont do anything terrible. they dont feel like good quality though, lots of plastics and chrome looking plastic inside.

Im sure you dont wanna know about the old one's! granada's, puma's, scorpio's, orion's, couger, Probe etc

They also made some very fast versions tuned by cosworth, these were mad and fantastic at the same time!

Bear in mind though, fords are renownd for having lots of electrical faults, may be small but can be costly and regular. some people say for stands for Fix Or Repair Daily.

You'll just have to get out there and test drive them for yourself, there's no other way to choose a vehicle. go with your head mate.

In my opinion the best manufacturer to go for are Honda's, toyota's, VW's, Audi's.
You will find these makes will be more expensive to buy but they run forever, infact i bet the engine would out live the bodywork on most!

Ford stands 4 First On Race Day. The Ford Mustang is THE BEST CAR Ever Built.

you people really need to pay attention where the parts for your cars come from! Allot of them are built in the same plant as GM and Chrysler. I know this for a fact. Dont believe me then do some research! as for the best? Well of course the Ford Mustang. Started in 1962 as a concept car. the Mustang I. But the mustang II in 64 is when it went into production.
Engine choices started with the utterly lame 170-cubic-inch (2.8-liter) OHV straight six that made just 101 horsepower; then proceeded through a 200-cubic-inch (3.3-liter) OHV straight six rated at a flaccid 116 horsepower; a 260-cubic-inch (4.3-liter) OHV V8 breathing through a two-barrel carburetor and making 164 horsepower; a 210-horsepower two-barrel-equipped 289-cubic-inch (4.7-liter) V8; a four-barrel 289 making 220 horsepower; and, at the top, the famous "K-code" high-compression, solid-lifter, four-barrel 289 pumping out a lusty 271 horsepower. K-code-equipped cars got a special badge on their front fenders indicating that not only did the engine displace 289 cubic inches, but that it was also the "High Performance" version.

A three-speed manual transmission was standard with every engine except the 271-horse 289, which was available only with the four-speed manual that was optional on other models. The Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission was also offered.

from a personal point of view i have to swear by the sierra. i have had quit a few over the years and they have never let me down, although i have to admit that with these cars there were more wires on it then it actually needed. it is quite economical especially from the two litre upwards.i have just picked up a mark 1 sierra 2.3 ghia with 58000 miles on the clock and it drives like a new car.if u want loads of fun go for the mark 1 sierra cosworth, that's if u have 15.000 pounds spare. as for the new ford i would not entertain them as there is more to go wrong and they are not as easy to work on as the old fords, take the mondeo for example if the clutch goes which is a coman fault u have to take the engine out to get to the clutch and it will cost u 500 pounds.give me an old ford any day.

I can't talk about all Fords, but stay away from anything pre 2004 with a 5.4 or a V10. I've said this many times on this forum and will continue to do so until Ford admits the screwup. These engines spit sparkplugs like a baseball player spits tobacco. Look it up for yourself. Mine has cost me over $12,000 in the past year to keep running. Why do I keep it you ask?? You know anyone that will buy it for what I owe? I doubt it. I was sold a bill of goods by Ford. I hope it doesn't happen to you. google Ford spark plug blowout and look.
