The three pairs of wires are usually white-blue, white-orange, and white-green. The dial tone is usually on the white-blue. The terminals that you need are the red-green, so you bridge the white-blue wires to the red-green terminals. You can also visit the site below for more information about land lines. Good luck.

blue with white to 5,, white with blue to 2
if you have whit with orange put in 3 ( not essential but helps with the ringer if long way from 1st point)

you need to use 2.3.5 for an extension. your master socket only uses 2.5
