Because he is a miserable person deep down and doesn't feel complete unless he has tried to bring others down with him.
There are LOTS of those people around. And a lot of them don't even know the reasons why they are so rude to others. It is sad, really.

Because it makes him feel superior to others....in reality, he is just a sad, lonely individual who wonders why he doesn't have many friends.
