my cat oscar is about 8 years old, a couple months ago i took him to the vet and she said he had pink eye cause he had green goop coming out of it. so i put drops in, it got better, and now he has dark red stuff coming out. it's definitely not blood, and i'm going to take him to the vet this weekend. my roommate is a hairdresser and one of her clients used to be a vet and said it could be herpes?? has anyone heard of anything like that??

Eye infections some times are not curred by just one treatment. I am sure your Vet told you to call if symtoms return but myself I often forget becaue it starts so gradual. some cats have weak immune sytems or are under stress.
Yes it can be the herbies virus. I was helping a friend by keeping her cat and that cat passed on the virus to my cats. One of my cats has a flare up everything she gets stressed out.
The vet can get you the same or a stronger eye ontment, follow directions and if no inprovement or worse the Vet will not charge for second office vist just medication.
Coloured discharge from eye is sserious and need the Vet.
