1. False (unless it's powdered. Only flour needs to be sifted.)
2. True, if you don't there leaves places for air to make large holes of air and the measuemens are incorrect.
3. True, except the shortening.
4.True, but only by estimation.
5.True, the higher the number on the bottom is the smaller the pieces of the whole are. So if you only have a 1 on the top it's smaller.

1) False...don't sift it unless the recipe says to do so.
2) False...how do you pack a wet ingredient into a cup?
3) True...they are all liquids. But I've always used a regular cup for shortening
4) True
5) True...duh! 1/8 C is half of 1/4 cup!

Is this for home ec or something?
