There is no "most playful dog" each dog has their own personality. Dogs that like to fetch are retrievers, but many other breeds enjoy it as well. All dogs enjoy playing with other dogs and humans. That's why we love them.

You can't ask this question and expect a 100% truthful answer. Some breeds are more playful than others, but in reality, it all comes down to the individual dog. You might be told that a certain breed, such as Labrador Retrievers, are the most playful, but I personally know very playful labs that spend hours playing, and I know couch potato labs that don't care less about playing or fetching. Often times, younger dogs are more playful than older dogs, but there are ALWAYS exceptions to this.

I think that if you are planning to get a dog and you want a playful one, my best piece of advice to you would be to go to your local animal shelter or ASPCA and find the INDIVIDUAL dog that best suits your needs.

If you want a list of breeds that are considered playful, I suggest that you check www.dogbreedinfo.com. This website has specific information on many different breeds of dogs, and I am sure that you will be able to find what you are looking for. A few breeds that pop into my head when I think of playful dogs are:

-Labrador Retriever
-Golden Retriever
-Shetland Sheep Dog
-English Cocker Spaniels
-Australian Shepherds

These are only a few breeds, there are many more! Good luck!

I have NEVER met a more playful dog then my dog, she is a collie retriever mix. She can go all day, running and fetching. She loves to play in the water and snow!! It really depends on the individual though. I got her from the shelter, which is where I get all of my pets.

It all depends on the temperment of the dog, not all dogs from the same breed will be the same. I have a boston who is really playful and an American Bulldog that could play until the sun goes down.

All dogs, if raised correctly are playful. I have a lab/boxer mix I just adopted and she would play 24/7 if I did not get tired. Go to your local pound or humane society and play with the dogs. You won't regret it.

Dalmations. They have been inbreed for so long now that most of them are retarded. A huge percentage of them will only sleep 7-9 hours a day. They'll play all day and all night.

I used to live in a frat house (which was a bad decision) and we had a dalmation. That thing would play non stop for days. It would just roam the halls looking for awake people to throw a ball.

Boxers! Well-known as the comedians of the canine world, they are exuberant, rambunctious, goofy, and up for any silly game you throw their way - fetch, find & seek, tag, wrestle (sounding viscious, but never putting pressure on their 'bite') etc. One of the Top Ten Breeds reccomended for kids, they will wear kids out before they are done playing themselves...and then fall into a deep sleep, snuggled up to their 'people'.

p.s. My Boxer had to 'teach' my sister's Labrador how to 'fetch' - and he still outdoes hers at it!

My dobie is the most playful dog I've ever owned. Out of collies, mutts, poodles, italian greyhounds, and corgies, my doberman is way more playful....but also has way more energy and it takes longer to tire her out.
