Energy efficient mini spiral bulbs, do they contain mercury?

if so why when promoting energy efficiency and environment issues is there no warning about disposal

Some of them do, but not all...
Check the packaging for a warning. If in doubt assume mercury is present and treat disposal as such.

The ones from IKEA do. Buther there is a specail warning on them. The companies are required by law to notify you of mercury and give you special instructions for disposal if their product contains mercury.
