"Christ came and fulfilled the laws not changed them"

but when it says do not eat shellfish, they use this excuse and then can now eat shellfish.

if it says dont do this, then all of a sudden you can, how is that not a change?

(you can refer to my questions in profile about OT laws and shellfish)

- it specifically says do not eat things that do not have scales or fins, i dont remember jesus specifically saying, you can eat things that dont have fins and scales... - where did you come up with this?

You are right, that's exactly what the Bible says. I am a Christian, and for that reason I do not eat unclean meat or shellfish. A Jew's digestive system is exactly the same as a gentile's. Some people think that kosher eating is only for the Jews, but God made a distinction between clean and unclean animals all the way back at Noah, two thousand years before any Jew appeared. (2 of every unclean, 7 of every clean came onto the ark.) Isaiah 66:15 also tells us that at the end of time, when Jesus returns, God will also make a distinction between those who eat unclean meat and those who don't.

What does fulfilled mean to you Chippy? They have not passed away and are still applicable to those who have not accepted the atonement but those who accept the atonement are changed. If you are wondering about the clean and unclean food thing you should consider that these are shadows as all things are made clean by the atonement. We once made sacrifice of animals but the true sacrifice has been made these things were examples of that which has come...we do not pretend that Christ has not come. We live according to the atonement knowing that it has been made and the law was fulfilled. I'll try to find the scripture where Jesus taught it is not that which goes into a man that defiles him but that which comes out He did teach this but it would not matter as it is obvious that this was fufilled and is taught elsewhere in the Gospel. Jesus was the Mesiah and was crucified and htis has meaning to us all. It is by faith we now say we are new creatures.

When Jesus came to earth, the Isralites, were under the Mosaic Law system, Jesus, fulfilled the law, because he did not break any of the Mosaic Laws. When Jesus was killed by the Jewish priests, and scribes they broke many of the laws of the Mosaic code. Thus, earning God's disfavor, God showed this by taking away His blessings from the Isralites and bestowing His favor on those who had followed Jesus and remained faithful to Jesus. This was how the early Christian congregation was born. Because of the covenant instituted by Jesus on the night of his being arrested, and the subsequent death of Jesus, the old Mosaic Law covenant became null and void. The Jews were no longer God's people, the new congregation, instituted by Christ and his followers were now receiving God's blessing, with new Laws, the first is: You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind. This is the greatest commandment. The second, like, is this, You must love your neighbor as yourself. One these two commandments the whole Law hangs and the Prophets.

You know, this is a really, really good question.
First of all, you need to understand the difference between laws, statues, and ordinances. Some statutes and ordinances have changed, as they do often as society changes - but Christ said of the law, that he did not come to change one jot of it.
As far as stuff you should or should not eat;
this is a common error, even among some Christian church. In Acts 10:12 God sent down a "sheet" to Peter in a vision, with animals and creeping things - stuff you shouldn't eat.
God told Him, Peter, kill and eat. And Peter said to God, I never eat things against the health laws (my words) - and God told Peter 2 more times, Peter, kill and eat. and Peter wouldn't do it. Then God told Peter not to call anything that the Lord gives him to "eat"* common. Now lots of folks take those passages to mean that now they can eat anything they want - God says we aren't to call anything common. But, Peter receives a knock on the door right after God talked to him, and it was a bunch of Gentiles, and an Angel had told them to come to Peter to be taught. Well, this is what the vision meant - that God will have him preach and teach to the gentiles, and that he is not to hold back from doing it - He's not to call these people common, but they are to be accepted in just the same as the Chosen.
The creepy stuff God sent down was a lesson to Peter about how Peter was so hard-headed about his religious practices, that God wanted to show him that sometimes there will be Gods business to do, and that Peter has to be plyable so that God could use him. He couldn't turn away these folks because they were gentiles - it was Gods plan, and Peter was not to hold back because they were gentiles. *.The word "eat" as utilized in this passage means "to absorb, digest, understand fully".
This lesson was not to mean that you could now eat those things, literally. The human body stayed the same, hadn't changed - the health laws you read in Levit. are not sins to death - they are just sins to your health. Even today, if you get real sick, esspecially with some of the cancers, the first thing the doctors will take you off of is pork. Its an animal that has no sweat glands, so it retains every single bacteria in picks up its entire life. Its simply not good for you.
One thing that most important when you read Scripture, is that you apply good old fashioned common sense to it. If it doesn't make sense, you're not understanding something.

Well first of all :
These Laws (606),were given to the Jews, We the Gentiles have 7 laws, and the laws of the land.
Any Christian who says they keep all these laws is a liar, because we do not stone people, let he who curses his father be put to death, and so on...You can not confine some of the 606 laws to a few, either you keep all or you don't, not even in Israel do they keep all of them, because of international political correctness.
We do not drink blood in any manner we only acknowledge the true living god...and so on.
The Noahide Code of 7 Divine Commandments (mitzvos) was given to Noah and his descendants after the Flood. It was also given with the Torah at Mt. Sinai, which then became the eternal source for its observance. When studied properly, these Divine laws are found to encompass a wealth of ethical and spiritual content. This is a site where we can join together to learn about these laws in the light of Chassidic teachings. It features insights on the nature of creation, and our important roles as individuals and members of wider communities. We also provide networking for further information about Noahide families and groups.

lol you sure do like to open up cans of worms don't you?
Part of this has to do with a misunderstanding of Jewish concepts and mistranslations.

First of all, they are misunderstanding the whole " I came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it" scripture.. that's a rabbinic midrash(teaching) in which to make full means to give a greater understanding. The Law is not done away with in any way.

They get that whole eat anything you want because monk's notes were thrown in as scripture in the vision that Peter had where the monk wrote "thus he made all foods clean"... this is simply not the case. The vision Peter had was specifically in reference to his aversion to going to Gentiles' houses, as Jews were not supposed to hang out with Gentiles.. God allegedly gives Peter a vision of clean and unclean animals (as a reference to jews and gentiles) and tells Peter not to call "unclean" what God says is clean. In other words, "If I tell you to go to a Gentile's house and talk to them, then just do it. I am not going to make you break my laws".

So, that's where they get it from. Hope it helps.

You are confusing two things. You are confusing Livitican and Old Testament rules with what Jesus said in his sermon on the mount. Jesus did say what you said, but he did NOT speak on all Livitican rules like shellfish, etc.

Man redifined the Livitican rules through religious dogma. Somewhere along the way people started eating shellfish as they deemed fit.

Interestingly, the Jewish faith still holds to much of the Old Testament rules, especially Orthodox jews.

Well, its a little deeper than that. All the OT laws were written for Jews of that time only. They were not meant for you or me. Their purpose was to show the Jews that they could not keep the law. And, that they were in need of a savior (messiah). But you know the story-they rejected God so He abandoned the Jews and chose the gentiles-thats everyone else. But for the gentiles, God made a "new" covenant. That new "law" is that if you believe in God and trust Him for your salvation-he comes to live "within" the believer and teaches him right from wrong from the inside, not by the law (old).
Thats as simple as I can put it.

Just because they are OT laws doesn't make them NOT applicable to the modern day Christian - the WHOLE of the bible applies to you, sir, not just what you would pick and choose. Makes you no better than the McWiccans who think all religion is a menu that you can choose whatever you want off of it and ignore the rest. (Disclaimer, not all wiccans - nor all christians - are that way)

The 613 laws in the OT - especially regarding food - were actually very good, practical minded rules to help keep people healthy.and thriving. Some will arge that the rules no longer apply, because we have very good modern technologies that make processing and preserving food more possible and much easier.

Jesus never changed the rules - times, however, did.
