when only he is able to draw them to salvation but decides not to have mercy on them that way?

2007-02-08 07:21:10 · 34 answers · asked by Rod Steele 1 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Please no thoughtless answers, I know the bible, although I couldn't say im a Christian. Yes I understand the truths are spiritually discerned. Please substantiate all opinions with reason preferrably from the bible. you won't help me if you can't thoughtfully elaborate. If you say there is no hell you're going to have to address an aweful lot of verses, or if you say we send ourselves to be tormented. Again, why if God knows all, controls or allows all, can only effect us to salvation and is able to effect us to accept him does he create us, then not choose to bring us to that salvation. Romans 9 i believe is appropriate for this, but not an answer. THANK YOU!!!!

Romans 9:20-23
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?" Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and one for dishonor?
What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,

Why would God be so cruel to send people to earth, and then destroy them?

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten;

(John 11:11-14) Death is like a Sleep, You do not know of anything going on once you are dead. .

Another one: (Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20) 19 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust.

There is no mention here of a fiery hell. Humans return to dust—to nonexistence—when they die.

But there is Paridise: (John 5:28-29) 28.Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice. 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

(Psalms 37:10-11) 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.

11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

1 John 4:16 explains everything perfectly: "God is love, and he that remains in love" So, since he is love, why would he want to torture his creation?

Best to study your Bible. To put it shortly, the Hell of fire and brimstone and eternal torture is just a made up story conjured by certain religious leaders in the past to scare the faithful into their churches, as well as their money. So what is "Hell"?
Hell comes from an old German word, Hoelle. This translates to "the common grave of mankind." As for fire and such, certain passages of the Bible are misinterpreted to help create the concept of Hell that we know today. Look near the end of Revelations though. There is a passage that states, "and death and hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire." So, death and Hell were tossed into this Lake of Fire. Does this make sense? Why would this scripture exist? Well, fire was a concept preached in those ancient times as the ultimate destroyer of things. Basically, the Lake of Fire is the symbolic way of saying the God will destroy the concept of death and the use of a grave. In other words, no more death in paradise. Other scriptures show that death is the ultimate price for sin. When you die, you paid for your sins in full. So what happens after you die. Think of Lazarus, a good friend of Jesus. Lazarus died and was dead for a week before Jesus resurrected him. Lazarus did not mention anything about a heavenly bliss, or seeing a burning Hell. He had no memory of his death. Basically, when you die, you have no memories, no feelings, no concept of the passage of time. You are non-existent, with the only hope of the resurrection to bring you back to life. Hell is this condition of death. If you're not resurrected, then your gone forever. Not tortured forever.

God created us in His image to fellowship with Him forever. Man broke that relationship when they sinned in the Garden of Eden! Man made their choice. God doesn't send anyone to Hell. We send ourselves there. Hell was created for the fallen angels. All God wants is to have a relationship with us. When the time was right, God Himself, (not all of Him, just enough to save us) came to us enrobed in flesh, and ye shall call him Jesus. That is the greatest act of mercy in the history of man!! God knows that we can't save ourselves, so He came in the flesh to become a sacrifice for us!! He died on the Cross for all of us!! He then came back to life 3 days later and walked among us, proving that He overcame death and hell. His mercy shows us the way that we can also escape death and hell Acts 2:38 tells us that when we ask God to forgive our sins and are baptized in His Name by immersion, He will forget every bad thing that we thought, said, or did!! Not only that, He gives us the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking inan unknown language. With the Holy Ghost, we now have God's permission to cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead. All done in His Name of course.

You are only half right. God created people, but we send ourselves to hell. God provided an escape from hell for all of us, but many did not, have not and will not accept Jesus Christ, therefore they are disobeying God and have chosen to spend eternity in hell. Yes, God can "draw them to salvation", but He gives us free will. He chose not to control us but rather to set an example (Jesus), give us direction (The Bible), guidance (The Holy Spirit) and the option to seek Him daily for additional help (prayer). He's done enough and sometime we need to do our share.
If you had a child that was capable of feeding him/herself and you went out and bought food, cooked food and even prepared his/her plate and told him/her to eat and they chose not to are you going to force him/her to eat. At some point that child has to do what is right and realize that if I choose not to listen to my parents and eat I will die. If we choose not to obey God when our body die or soul will spend eternity in hell.

What you are missing is that God WANTS all to be with Him in eternity and not separated from Him ( He wants us in Heaven and Not in Hell).

1 Tim 2:3-4
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
(from New International Version)

It is people , not God, who do the REJECTING of God and so will spend eternity without Him.

Luke 1:50-53
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
(from New International Version)

People have free will and send themselves to Hell by not obeying God, blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Mark 3: 28-30. They become reprobate in their thinking and disobedience! Romans1 and worship the creation more than the Creator. Revelation 22.

God sends no one to hell. A god who would do that isn't much of a god

Hell is metaphorical. In the Bible it is simply a place without God so theoretically if you don't believe in God, everyplace is hell.
I don't believe there is an actual torture kingdom of fire and brimstone.

God doesn't create people just so he can send them to hell. Only people send themselves to Hell by the things they do in life. They choose not to follow God. Only we, if we truly want can find salvation with God.

All good things that happen to us come from God. And all Bad things that happen to us, we do unto ourselves.
God Loves us all and wants us to be with him in Heaven. If you truly believe, and have faith in God he WILL guide you to salvation. God doesn't want to help people that don't believe in him.
God is forgiving and merciful.
