You could rent the movie "Prince of Darkness." This was made in the 80's, but I thought it was really creepy. The story was good. Also the movie "The Ring" was good to get scared with.
Basically, you would want movies with the creepiness factor, unlike those stupid one like "Friday the 13th" and such. Also to enhance the mood, turn off all the lights and watch the movie alone.....muuuhhhhaahahahahaha!

The Saw movies are famously scary.
Classics are The Shining and... umm Nightmare on Elm Street?
Isn't this a movie question?
I guess the passion of the christ is kind of scary...

I thought the Hills Have Eyes was super scary...cause in a way it could actually be real, compared to Boogie Monsters and what not.

It's not a thrasher type movie, but The Dark Hours is a wicked movie.
I would also recommend Lost Highway. Very creepy.

Apocalypto and the last King of Scotland are quite scary because of the bloodshed and continual violence.

Hmmm. Either Seven, or Jesus Camp. They're both pretty disturbing.
