anywhere from a week to 10 days. After that heat cycle ends, another one will begin very soon. I asked my vet about this, and he said basically cats once they have gone into heat, stay pretty much that way until they are pregnant or you spay them.
pay the money, get her spayed.

Males seem to be more laid back than females. But if you only have the one male, it shouldn't really matter. While it is cheaper to have a male fixed, with a female you don't have to worry about them liking each other as much. Males can be kind of temperamental with that sometimes. I agree with the adoption thing tho. A lot of the time, they are already spayed/neutered and have their shots. Plus its great to rescue one of those poor guys from a cage life in a shelter. Whatever you do, wait till your male cat is COMPLETELY healed before introducing another cat. Don't wanna completely stress him out. Good luck!

My cats (indoor cats) are on heat for about a week to 10 days. This is the third time they are on heat and i can honestly tell you each time they are on heat they get worse. They wont leave my partner and son alone, cry constantly, hardly sleep and hardly eat. Am definately getting them spayed. It is actually quite heartbreaking to watch!

Toomey below has the answer. some cats just keep going in and out of heat and at times they can actually have hair fall out, seem to go crazy and try to escape from the house all the time. It is cruel not to have them fixed. After they are fixed they make much better pets and seem much more happy.

As long as you allow it to stay out...it will always be a target for other cats.
