That was so special. I got the Joke. lol

(PS: "Actually " I understand the Universe is 13.7 billion years old (Nasa Data). I don't think it is 13.7 billion light years old or that we can quite see that far (- actually, I think a light year has nothing to do with age, It is a distance that a paricle of light could travel in one year (unless it slowed down). of course I could be wrong.)

Looking forward to seeing you on the re-runs of "Saturday Night Live".

There is nothing that specifically states that the universe is 6,000 years old or older. It doesn't tell a specific date in the Bible. That is just the date agreed upon by the scientists who support creation. We see the Andromeda galaxy and it is over 4 million lightyears away, so it isn't true to say that we don't see anything from more than 6,000 lightyears away. I don't know why this is, but it's true. Personally, I don't believe that the earth is billions of years old because nothing has been found to support this theory, but I don't know how old the universe is.

Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.

That means the universe is 7 billion light years old not 14 as the scientists say!

That means religions is 3,000 years old, which HAPPENS to be the date of the oldest Biblical document on record!

Hey, what if SPACE ALIENS made us 3,000 years ago and left fraudulent artificats to confuse us!

Hey, Copper Top, what if we're all wired into the Matrix and this is all a dream.

Decide. Blue pill or red pill!

There's no going back you know!

I don't pretend to understand light years, etc., but is your point that you believe this universe is not more than 6000 years? Do you believe this earth is more than 6000 years old? I hope so, because unless its just a joke, your user name is "church lady", so you must know that this earth is eons and eons old. The Bible says so.
Can you be more specific in what you are asking or saying???? (I'm Christian)
p.s. God bless user name "Dze" who obviously knows their Bible.

I guess that you don't read you're scientific books abnd magazines then, and when any science programme comes on TV, it must be a race to switch channels before they indoctrinate you with truth. If you did take notice of science, then you would realise we have detected stars and galaxies over 12 billion light years away.

no longer via itself. Trigonometric parallax measurement purely works out to a pair of thousand parsecs - somewhat under 3,500 mild years. which does no longer even attain to the closest edge of the Milky way. much less all a thank you to Andromeda. Which surely helps your user-friendly element extra effective than you may think of.

even for a christian theres no argument that the universe is older than 6000 years ... the creation of the universe isnt mentioned in the 7 day creation anyway .. in fact it says the earth was already there ...

The speed of light is not constant, but distances are measured as if it was, as Einstein postulated.

Speed of light is variable with gravitational 'loading'.
