In my home you put the lid down as well as the seat to keep the cat from playing in the water and getting the seat all wet. It's for everyone's respect and makes the bathroom look nicer to.

I have no problem if you leave the seat up or down But IN MY HOUSE IT WILL be down with the lid down as well due to my cats enjoying swimming.
ANYONE who leaves it open at my house WILL give my cats baths before they are allowed to leave and they will most likely NOT be welcomed back into MY home. Anyone not respecting these wishes are truly not friends nor family and I wash my hands of them.
When cats are curious about toilets they can spread VERY dangerous bacteria that can kill, to other animals and humans. I keep my cats squeaky clean and if YOU put error in it then YOU will fix it. It is only fair and I would expect to do the same for someone else.
Happy Thursday !!

In men's apartments the toilet seat should be put back up because this is where the men prefer to have it. In a woman's home the toilet seat should be put down because this is where women prefer to have it. Whoever is most likely to go rushing into the loo (and be in such a hurry that they forget to look at the seat position) should designate where the seat stays. Women are given deference in mixed households because we don't like falling in and leaving it down just means the man needs to aim better.

Know that if it wasn't a complaint about the seat being up, they'd complain about your aim if you left it down. Ladies need to give it a break, and realize that gravity is on their side so they should get over it and just drop the seat if its up. Unless, of course, they are willing to leave it up out of respect for you.

It may not necessarily be a form of respect however, it does show consideration for those of us of the opposite sex. I guess being considerate and thoughtful may be synonymous with respect..U respect me enough not to see me fall into the toilet and get disgusting, vile, filthy toilet water all over "my precious"!

IT LOOKS BETTER DOWN.
It's to the advantage of women.........they don't need to put it down.
It's disadvantageous to men, they need to put it up and down after use.
