my 3 year old son done something while i was away from the computer now my taskbar sits at the top of my screen and i have no idea how to put it back at the bottom.

Hi! With (I think) all versions of Windows, you first right click the task bar, and see if the "lock the taskbar" isn't checked, if it is, left click it (this will unlock it). Next, left click and HOLD the left button (mouse, trackball or what have you) down, as you move the mouse to the desired location... the task bar will appear at the bottom, then right click it again, and select the lock option if you don't want it to move again (unintentionally). That's about it.

Click on the spot between the Start button and the first icon. Drag the bar to whatever side you want and it will go there.
To make sure he doesn't do it again, right-click on that same spot & check "lock the taskbar".
If you can't move it to start, make sure "lock the taskbar" is unchecked.

click on an unused portion of the taskbar once with the left button of your mouse, hold the button on your mouse down while at the same time moving the mouse to the bottom of your screen , once at the bottom of your screen let go of the mouse button & your taskbar will move to the bottom..

left click the task bar on an empty space on the task bar and hold it on while dragging it down to the bottom of the screen.
To stop it happening again right click and lock the task bar.

drag it with the mouse and drop it in the bottom. if it does not drag right click on it and uncheck "lock taskbar".

Unlock the toolbar (right click & click unlock) then drag and drop it back down to the bottom.
