I just got one for my birthday... they say it can be used anywhere american express is accepted so can i shop online?

According to the terms of conditions of gift cards found on http://www10.americanexpress.com/sif/cda/page/0,1641,22147,00.asp yes you can use the gift cards online, unless that merchant does not accept AMEX, and that the merchant is not located outside the US (asuming of course you are US citizen - if you are located elsewhere, substitute the name of your country).

Yes, you can. As long as the vendor accepts American Express credit cards. An American Express gift card works the same as a credit card (except it's already paid for).

Yes as long as the online merchant you are shopping with accepts american express.

yeah there should be a website for the card that you go to to register it to your name so that when you buy stuff you can use it, thats what i had to do when i got one...bc you know they have to know whos name is on the card it only takes like 2 minutes.
