What do i need to file a Child on my taxes?

If the child is your child who lives with you, and there are no legal papers that someone else can claim him/her, then you just need the social security number.

If it's not your own child, then there are a wide variety of rules, and they depend on if and how the child is related to you, the child's age and student status and income, and who pays how much of the child's total support, among other things. Too many to go into here without more info on the child and your relationship.
