It is amazing!
These dogs are actually becoming recognized by the AKC as pure breds now since the designer dogs are taking off...crazy!
They are adorable! But I will stick with my yorkie...love him!

I've seen almost everything by way of "designer breeds", as I'm a groomer and work in a large boarding kennel that also does training and doggy day camp. I think the cutest I've seen recently is a Pugle (Pug/Beagle mix). The most common is the one that's been around forever, it seems ... Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix). Not far behind those seem to be the Labradoodles (Labrador Retriever/Poodle mix) and the Goldendoodles (Golden Retriever/Poodle mix).

Right now I have 4 two week old puppies who are a cross between a cocker spaniel and a Lhasa Tzu ( the father is a Lhasa Apso Shih Tzu mix). When they were first born 3 of them looked like cocker spaniel puppies and one looked sick because it was so long and skinny, like a Shih Tzu or Lhasa Apso.
They have changed their physical appearance so much in the last two weeks. Three of them have smushed up noses and they are all changing colors which is common in Lhasa Apsos.
I can't wait to see how they end up looking.
No this was not a planned pregnancy. The moron who gave me the dog (my brother) didn't think a male that small could get to a female that big. Could someone tell me how he and his wife have 5 kids between them?

I have two maltese/pug cross pups - they are the most gorgeous dogs I have ever seen. The boy is more the pug end of the scale and the girl is more maltese.
Gus (the boy) is starting to get the feathery ears and legs of a maltese and Sofia (the girl) is starting to develop a very pug-ish face.
They are almost 5 months old.

Beautiful Disaster Beth: Please fact check: the AKC is NOT recognizing ANY 'DESIGNER DOGS' - these are scams being bred & marketed by unscrupulous people! Cockapoos have been being bred by these disreputable types since the 1970's, and have never even come close to getting AKC recognition. AKC recognition is a long process, and never just 2 breeds mixed together...each breed must have a purpose.
It is disgusting that people purposely breed mixes for their personal profit while shelters overflow & euthanize dogs...every shelter dog is a 'designer dog', and deserves a home.

I have a Puggle beagle /pug mix.
He is cute as pie but very high energy. He's definitely more Beagle than pug.
I can't wait until he settles down. I saw a chow/lab mix and he was also the cutest!!!! Chow ears with a lab temperament!!! Could you ask for more?
Yorkie-Poos are cute too!!!

"Designer" dogs are just a scam used by some greedy, unethical folks looking to separate a bunch of dumb suckers from their money.
My wretched white-trash neighbors breed tons of them and brag to everyone that will listen about how stupid their customers are. They keep all the dogs outside no matter what the weather, feed them the cheapest food they can and sell them all for cash money that they don't report to the IRS. Now tell me, do they sound like the kind of people you want to support?
And let me tell you... a pug/beagle cross may look semi-cute from a distance, but most of them are flat out dumb, ornery, nasty little creatures.

They call them "Designer Dogs" so they can get some dumb person to pay $1500 for a mutt. Put a fancy name on it and it becomes a "must-have" accessory. Sounds like a lousy excuse to charge a lot for a mixed breed. Go to your local shelter and you can have your pick... give it a name of your own!

designer dogs? never heard the term. i call those types of dogs mixed breeds. designer sounds kinda ridiculous to describe a living thing, unless your talking about a designer as in versace or something. that's more of a job title. only in america.
