I have provided all expenses for her during 2006. She is separated from her husband and not employed. How do I file her depentent status on my federal return?

You didn't mention if this married adult was your daughter, niece or someone that you're involved with. If it is your daughter or another qualifying relative, then you claim them as a dependent as long as you provided >50% of her support and she resided with you for more than 6 mos of the year. Also, if there's no income that exceeded $3300, you shouldn't have any problem claiming her as a qualifying relative or dependent (based on how she's related to you).

If this is someone that you're involved with, sorry but there's no claim you can take for that.

If she lived with you all year, didn't earn over $3300, and doesn't file a joint return with her husband, then you probably can claim her as a dependent.

I'M WITH YOU, LETS CHECK WITH IRS. If I provided all the support I should have the right to claim the person. I believe that if the person is not claimed by someone else, then I can claim them.

You need her permission. Without that, there is nothing you can do. Thank you and good luck.
