I have a colleague who I get on really well with and I am now at the point where I would love to get to know him better... away from work, go out for a drink and chat. He is friendly and smiles, waves and stops to chat, but as we work together (and he is a manager) I don't know if he's just being nice or if there is actually something more there. Today, he actually apologised for not being able to stop and talk after he had come to my office to give me something I was waiting for. I wasn't even expecting to. He looks at me as though he's thinking I want him to invite me out, but I don't know if he will... i wouldn't mind asking him, but am a little afraid in case i'm reading the signs wrong. What do you think?

Ask him out. What have you got to lose. If he's not interested he sound as if he is a gentleman enough not to put you down and will remain friends with you

I am in the same situatuion as we speak but mine has progressed a little further. He is a manager and did the exact same thing after one time he felt like he kind of didn't pay me enough attention but I understood because we were both working. So anyway we have went out a few times and talk on the phone frequently but I sometimes find myself asking where the relationship could possibly go. I think he likes you because of my personal experience. But if this thing with me and him doesn't go right, how will we be able to end it on a good note, will there be hostility between us (in the work enviornment). So it may be best not to enter into a relationship with a co-worker at that a manager. But what the hell if it makes you happy go for it!

Kinda in a round about way bring up the subject of office place romance topic. Find out his opinion and if he doesn't have problems with it then let him know you're interested. He maybe interested but can't be able to date employees.

well you should be careful, cause I read the wrong signs and fell deeply in love and now I am heartbroken, but he might like you. I think you need to ask him to make sure.

If I were you I'd just wait for him to say something or I'd snoop around and find out if he is thinking the same way. I wouldn't want to be embarassed or something...

Again being sick of these "I like him/her do they like me?" questions I'll just say yes he's madly in love with you but is feeling the exact same way and, just like you, is afraid of getting rejected if he asks you.
