Lots of very good answers here Mari, but keep in mind sometimes what is looked at as jealousy is in actuality a concern of how the other person's behavior reflects upon them and their partner. But in the long run, being jealous will just cripple your ability to function as someone's partner.

I think jealousy is normal, but not necessarily a good thing. It can really screw up a relationship, because it normally leads to a possessive partner and a subdued partner. One person gets smothered by all of the insecurites of the other if that green monster gets out of hand.

Personally, I've had my own run in with jealous partners. I'm a very sentimental person, and I hug my friends when I'm happy or simply greeting them, but it doesn't mean I want more than friendship, yet my partners have thought that it's a signal of attraction, or that the person I hug misconstrues my affection. If the person I'm with doesn't like others looking at me, then I'm little more than a possession to them.

However, jealousy is understandable, since everyone experiences some form of it, just to lesser degrees; the grass is always green on the other side. We compete with the Jones', we buy bigger cars, we want the lotto; all some form of jealousy, because we want these things since someone else has them. Overall, though, I think it's base and not something that we should be able to oversome with reason.

Yes it is. Jealousy is spawned by possessiveness and insecurity, which are both very selfish emotions. Jealousy is never cute as some people seem to think. Not allowing a person the personal freedom they deserve is the same as trapping a butterfly in a jar. It's cruel. Jealousy is never caused by a strong sense of love for a person as some people seem to think either. It is caused by the fear of losing that love. I know from experience. It is a constant struggle to keep it under control. It is hard work but at my age it comes naturally. Good luck. Nice legs btw lol

Hi Mari, Jealousy is usually a sign that we are not happy or comfortable with ourselves. It is also a way of letting you know you have given too much of yourself away and have become dependent on someone elses view of you. In these things, jealousy can be a good thing. It is the little nudge we need to make some changes for the better. If you find yourself being jealous of, say another girl, chances are your standards for yourself have dropped and you are judging yourself harshly. Be easy on yourself. Realize that you can only be YOU, and be the best you that there ever was. Stay Happy

Jealousy is an emotion full of passion. No, it's not ALWAYS a bad thing. It's not a bad thing at all, if you can control it.

Jealousy is a normal feeling to have, but only to a certain point. Once you begin obsessing about something, then you may have a problem.

name the positives of being jealous and I might believe you, other than that its bad, cause it makes you look weak to your partner, although some people will feel inatiquate if their partner doesnt become jealous of their flirting, but on the other hand if your the jealous type you can completely turn off your partner just because your so paranoid and start to check up in on them like their fu cking mom or something, so take this and anaylse which is the better wrong to be, cause for me a jealous girlfriend means she cares, but to a point, and to be a jealous boyfriend well that just causes too much stress and i'd rather just end the relationship... comeon thats worth 10 points church

No, it's not always a bad thing. Sometimes it's healthy. As long as it does not cause a problem between two people.
