It just depends what you want. But in essence, the Toyota Avalon is better than the Camry. The standard Avalon has a bigger engine, more horsepower, and more torque than a standard Camry. The Avalon is the flagship car of Toyota and offers many amenities. It has more of a luxurious feel whereas the Camry is your average sedan.

i take it the avensis is the uk version of the us avalon. i have a 2006 toyota camay and my sister has a 2006 avalon.... both are pretty much the same car with the same drivetrain and stuff. just being a toyota means top notch quality. camrays and avalons stateside are among the best selling and best reliable cars. so just a mater if you want more luxury or not.
