Churches seem to have become very inward looking in my opinion. Why don't they make it easier for to pray for strangers and those in the community who can't/won't attend a church but do believe in God? Surely, request for prayer could be posted on a website such as this or in a prayer box in a shop?

Sure. I'll pray for you.
At Catholic Mass we pray for the sick, the elderly, the homebound, people who have turned away from God, or still believe in God.

God's blessings on you.

Make that suggestion.

I am not really familiar with prayer lists, posted up on church bulletins, but where i attend there is a prayer night. Every wednesday, we gather in homes and we thank God for certian things and also we pray for certain petitions. Something practical and very important in the lives of people that follow the teaching of Jesus.

My church has a prayer list and a prayer chain. We pray for anybody and everybody who requests it or that we know has a need. Most of the people on our list are NOT church members. I have even been in church when a firetruck or ambulance went past outside with the sirens on, and we stopped the service right then and prayed for whoever they were going to rescue. Even though we didn't know who it was, God did, and we asked for His help for them.

Anyone can be put on a list for prayer. The power of prayer comes from unity. Everyone has to agree with what is being prayed for. That is why the church has the list so that they can pray a prayer of agreement.

(Psa 133:1) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

(Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

I don't really know much about prayer lists in churches. However i think its a lovely idea, because prayer does work. And when someone who hasn't experienced the work and love of people who care enough to think to pray for them and see that God does actually hear Well!!!! that's great innit.

Why would it matter? Really the most powerful weapon we have against the devil is PRAYER. The more the merrier is my belief. In church, In the streets and Yes, even in YAHOO. We are all to pray without stopping, by the way. In The Bible; Thess. 5

Churches have prayer lists to get people to come to church.
People who don't come to church don't contribute.
So by coming and having people pray for them they get something out of it.
that is a way the Church makes money, indirectedly.
Praying for strangers hardly does that.
