i have dark brown/black hair and i want to go lighter without striiping my hair!?

Question

i am black, and therefore we have the most fragile hair type, and stripping is so damaging to your hair, i want to get brown or light brown highlights/streaks in my hair, but i am scared of my hair breaking off or falling out, i have worked hard and have been patient to get the hair i have on my head, and i want nothing ruining it!!!!!

so can i do this without it being permanent and without the use of bleach

Tina, go to a beautician that specializes in your hair type. They are trained to do this and I have seen some very beautiful hair on American African women.
