the other night i was watching the simpsons and a bunch of reporters were going to mayor quimby's house. they had fox news, etc. well the christian science monitor van showed up and got a flat tire. one guy said "well i guess we better get the jack" and the religious guy said "no, we must wait for god to jack us."

It is a bit offending. It talks bad about God. If you are Christian than you really shouldn't be doing that.

I just LOVE the show. I truly believe the Simpson's are making people who are ignorant of God noticed. Don't worry about it. God does have a since of humor and most likely thought of it very funny as well. Lets go a little on the light side and not take so many things literally.

Fox was about the last network to decide they were going to put that type of stuff on the air. The rest of them have had no reverence for years. Yeah, I'm offended and disappointed in them. The Simpsons haven't been as bad as "Family Guy," but I guess they're getting there. I watch the news and that's pretty much it anymore.

The godbots got their pansies in a twist over the Joan Osborne song "One Of Us" ("What if 'god' was one of us, just a slob like one of us"). Where's the surprise that they get upset over this?

The godbots should leave the flowers alone instead of worrying about trifles; if the existence of their "god" is threatened by the words of a cartoon, it's not much of a "god".

Anyway, the dig at christians in the cartoon was at those who think prayer will solve everything instead of using their "god given" abilities to solve it themselves.

No, that doesn't offend me. What offends me as a Christian is how some Christians are so hell-bent on making God look like a merciless a**hole to people who don't know him.
God is not an a**hole, people...it is us...the Christians who are so damn judgemental...you can actually trust God.

Simpsons made Jeebus pretty much canon.

We have much to thank them for. It's also still the best goddamned tv show on earth.

Yes it does offend me. That is why i can't stand a lot of the animated shows that are so popular now. I find them rude and I don't understand why people like the simpsons. I wish they would put back on Barney Miller and some other comedy shows.

As a Catholic, and an avid fan of the Simpsons, I must say that it does not offend me.

...

But I'm also a huge fan of Dogma- so I may not be the right person to ask.

I does not really offend me, I have grown used to people disrespecting religion. That does not mean it is right. However a phrase I learned long ago comes to mind and could have been applied here "God helps those who help themselves"

No thats Christian Scientists which are kind of rejected my most otehr Christian sects. But thats kid of true. They believe that God will do every thing, they will even wait for God to heal a dear family memeber who has cancer, and my moms crooked teeth when she was really young. My grandmother is Christian Scientist and not one of her kids still is.
