My sister met someone through Yahoo Personals.

She became very involved with this person and fell in love. (Supposedly) He asked to borrow $2000 from her and at a weak moment, she gave it to him. (What the hell was she thinking)

Anyway, he keeps saying that he will pay her. The date keeps getting pushed farther and farther ahead. He has asked for her account number several times so that he could supposedly have his bank transfer it over to her bank.

Also, he wanted her to come to his house (it's quite a drive for her) to come and get her money, but he wanted her to come at night around 10:00. He lives in a very bad part of town.

Believe me, she regrets every bit of loaning him anything.

Any suggestions on this?

She has detailed email messages from him admitting that he owes her money. It also states when he will pay her back.

Lesson learned also.... Beware of online dating.

My bank doesn't do transfers from one person to another--I checked on this to lend money to a friend--so I think he's a con artist.

I wouldn't recommend going to his place. She should drive to someplace near where he lives, call and tell him she can't find it, and that he has to come to where she is at, so she can see him in public. She should also be followed in another car by someone who can kick ***, and is armed. If all that seems like too much effort, she should kiss the two grand goodbye and lose the guy's number.

It sounds like the more she talks to him, the deeper in she'll get. If she can get the money and leave, she should, if she can't, she just has to take it as a loss.

Sure sounds fishy to me. I wouldn't trust him. Definitlely would NOT go to his home to get the money. That could be stepping into dangerous territory. Also she shouldn't give him her account number for a bank transfer.

Tell her to have him buy a money order and mail it to her.

I am sure she knows his first and last name and other pertinent details, so she could maybe take him to court, especially if she has emails where he admits owing her the money.

Chalk it up to a life lesson. He had bad intentions from the start because after he found her weakness, he played on her and got what he wanted. Have her to call the non-emergency police in your area to find out what can be done. Good luck.

hopefully she has changed her bank account so that he does not have access to that information anymore, also make sure that she does not just randomly give out her personal information to strangers. you don't really have a legal foot to stand on because she gave him the money to borrow probably without any type of written contract for payment back. tell her no way not to drive to this guys house, block him from her phone and email etc.

If she could get at much info out of him as possible, the better for her. Get his e-mail account info. Make sure she can get him to write it out that he will pay her back. She could sue him for the money he owes plus interest.

YES! is your 1st answer, he's deffiently conning her : (

try and hire a private detective - track him down (if she knows his name, surname, location etc) ,then demand the money! if nothing happens - then get the police on to it. also mention it to YahooPersonals, just to warn them - that he did this (he might of done it, to someone else) before he knew your sister.

good luck! xx
