A lion, fox and a chicken were on one side of the river. They all had to get to the other side of the river alive, and they could only make two trips on the boat, with only two animals in it at a time. The chicken and the fox could not travel together as the fox would eat the chicken, and the same goes for the lion and the chicken.
How did they all get to the other side?

(Just in case you were wondering, the chicken was tested negative to bird flu prior to taking part!)

I forgot to say that when the boat comes back for the second trip it has to bring another animal back with it!

Can't chickens fly?
Is there a bridge over the river, or just the boat?

If chicken can't fly, and there's no bridge, then I don't think you can do this in only two trips, unless lion or fox can swim.

Trip 1: Lion and fox
Boat returns with either one
Trip 2: Impossible to make, as either fox or lion w/ chicken, causing chicken to be eaten

Why don't they just eat the chicken on the river bank. A fox and lion could catch a chicken easy

this is so easy !!!!!!!!! i learned it in along time ago but their was a farmer taking them yours is kind of different but this is the answer
He takes the lion and the fox first, leaves the lion and returns with the fox. He then leaves the fox on the bank and takes the chicken, leaving it at the other side with the lion. He then returns alone, picks up the fox and takes that to the other side to join the lion and the chicken.

nope got me there - although I think the answer is in an epsiode of the BBC comedy series 'the office' series 1 i believe - maybe if you rent that you will find out. Someone else is looking for directions to Blockbusters so maybe they could get it out for you on DVD or Video
