I am making really nice jewelry for my maids and I already spend like $200 on gold and crystals. I check with the wholesale jewelry supplier and to get 6 velvet earring boxes and 6 cheap boxes for Tiara- it's coming up $50. I just feel spending $50 on boxes that will prob be tossed out is crazy....
Anyone have any cute ideas on how I could package the jewelry cheaper but still have it look nice?? I have been checking craft store and the dollar store but nothing has struck me.
My wedding is fall theme if that helps anyone!

well if you want to get real jewelry boxes for around 10 bucks each that are in the shape of a heart go to QVC.com

look up "lori grenier heart" in the search box.

she has these cute little silver heart shaped boxes with tarnish free liner in it. these are real jewelry boxes. they are a good size for a few items to be thrown into.

i ordered these to put my bridesmaid jewelry in and it worked out great. all the girls still use the boxes :)

Have you tried your local craft store, around here there is an AC Moore that has wonderful things (almost as cheap as dollar store). You could check with your local pottery shop, around here there is one that will let you make your own stuff, like a small trinket box, that might not be too expensive and would be an added gift. I would also say keep looking in the dollar stores because their stock changes all the time and you might luck into something that strikes you as perfect. Good luck and God Bless.

check out the crafts store for boves that you can decopague or cover with nice fabric, you can ever put fiber fill to make it puffy and line with some velvet fabric

the boxes are stiff cardboard and come in different shapes and sizes

or give them each a stuffed animal or doll wearing the jewelry

i was going to sugest the victorian custom of cake pulls, but i wouldn't do that with $200 jewelry!! make a little leaf shaped pouch (or buy some frm the craft store...they should have a pattern somewhere) and put the jewelry in ther. that way not only do they have the jewelry, they also have a cute little pouch to put their essentials in for the wedding!

The craft stores often have little cardboard boxes for a buck or two each that you could paint and line with fabric... they also have gift bags made of organdy -- you can see through them, but if you are giving at the rehearsal dinner, and everyone can see through the bags, it can be a nice way to do it.

Sounds like you have been working hard! Congrats

Get little baskets, maybe spray paint them a shiney silver color, and fill the basket with fake leaves from the craft store. Get some kind of soft padding to put the jewelry on and put it in the basket. Kinda like a little gift basket. Don't laugh...it's the first thing that came to mind. lol

I like the idea of a small gift bag of the same material as the bridesmaids dresses; but how about making it a little larger so it can double as a small purse for them to keep stuff in? For example, a small purse that could hold their ID, lipstick, and small cell phone. This way they can use it on more than one occasion and even at your wedding, as it will match their dresses. Hope that helps. :)

if you sew or have someone who can sew for you try this - buy some quilted fabric in the same color scheme of your wedding and make small jewelry bags with either a button or drawstring closure - you can get quilted satin or velvet - and they can be re-used by the bridesmaids to keep the jewelry in - you can add some sewn on crystals or beads to the bags to make them prettier... good luck!!!

This is what I'm doing. I'm going to go to the second hand store and buying some pic's with frames, and making earring holders with the frames. It's really simple, and it looks soo cool. I've attached a link so you can see how it looks. Just buy some screen and staple it to the back of the frame. Hope this helps. and the girls will be able to keep them forever.

well if it's earrings or a ring at your wedding dinner you could put them in champagne glasses and fill with champagne and have the waiters bring out to them. All you have to is pay for a bottle of champagne...which could be as expensive as the boxes if you have expensive taste like myself. But it would be different and sort of cool. *shrug* They will be talking about if forever...oh and it makes them have to wear at the dinner too. where they gonna put it if there's not box?.....
