What's on your W4? Your employer withholds according to what you specify on the W4. People are classic for having way more exemptions than need be in order to bring home more of the paycheck and then scream at tax time about not enough being withheld. Also, did you properly record all tips received? If not, your employer added an estimation of tips received into your taxable income in Box 1. Start writing down all tips received henceforth and double check your W4.

If they didn't take enough out for taxes, it means that you got a bigger paycheck each week, so you may as well use that extra paycheck money to pay your taxes this year. Next year, claim 0 for exemptions on your W-4. They'll take more out of each paycheck and you're more likely to get a refund.

Come on, you're responsible for your finances, not your boss. Make certain the elections you made in regard to exemptions and withholding are accurate. Your employer doesn't just pull numbers out of a hat to figure out how much to withhold; there are specific guidelines given how much you make and the withholding elections you make.

withholding is your screwup.
When you fill out your tax info at your job (W-4) there is a box that asks marital status, dependents, and how much additional to withhold. You can change it anytime, but it only affects the withholding on pay AFTER the change.

box 815 is right. accept responsibility for your own actions and financial situation. if you know you are getting too much in your paycheck then SAVE it, or change your withholding status on your W-4.
