If the "mole" is red it may be a nevus vascularis also called capillary hemangioma. It wouldn't itch or be painful. Have it looked at by your primary care provider. You may need a dermatology referral. And 3cm is just under 1 1/2 inches. Hemangiomas get much larger than that so let anyone get you concerned about the size.
