.....(this question is just something that I was told and wondering if its true)

I was once told that if after 4 years if you still had feelings for someone that you believed you really loved then you truly were in love.

Has anyone heared of this kind of thing before and do they know if its true to any degree?

It sounds about right to me. I think you can't really really really love someone without being together a long time. It's all the experiences - bad and good- that make you close. I'm not saying you can't love someone at all unless you've been together for four years because you can it's just I think it strengthens with time.

I think its all rubbish. If you love someone truly and deeply then you will know.

Okay time does help you grow fond of someone and bring you together with that person if he/she has the same feelings back.

I honestly do not believe that a couple who are in a relationship that lasts 4 years must be true love. So many people part ways regardless of how long they have been together.

I understand how some couples like to be together with their partner for a few years before marriage to see how they deal with whatever gets thrown at them in life. It does not always work out while at the same time it does work for some.

It does not matter how long you are with a person - you will just know it deep inside that you love that person - or not.
