What is important mostly is your ratio of Omega 3 versus Omega 6, which are both polyunsaturated fats. This ratio should be between 4 to 1 and 10 to 1. For most people, our ratio isn't that great, so medical people, doctors, nutritionists recommend fish oil which is high in Omega 3.

Also, as we know some fish are high in heavy metals, not so good for us. So therefore one alternative is sardines, which are at the bottom of the food chain and they don't eat other fish, so they are low on heavy metals but very high in Omega 3.

As for the memory of fish, there are factors more important than Omega 3, like the size of their brain ;)

No. Oils in fish bodies do not make fish brains. And our food doesn't make up our brains. Our nervous tissue actually doesn't die until the rest of us dies. We have the same brain we were born with.
