VRE is actually a bacteria. Try looking up the term Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus. I believe just a thorough disinfectiong with a bleach solution should take care of things but be sure to wear gloves.

Yes, just wear gloves and use a disinfectant or bleach solution. That's all you'll need. Clean much-used surfaces - counter tops, light switches, toilet seat, etc. Lysol spray should work on fabrics like sofas and upholstered chairs. And VRE is the enterococcus bacteria, not a virus.
