I've read a lot about the items that can be retained by female recruits but the list is different in each Navy website and DEP guide.
These links say that I can bring
6 white cotton full cup bras (including 1 sports bra)
http://www.military.com/Recruiting/Content/0,13898,rec_step09_bootcamp_bring,,00.html#nav
http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/DEP/sifr.htm
While this page says that I can bring
6 white sports bras and 2 white full cup bras
http://www.nstc.navy.mil/rtcgl/recruits/bring.html
I know that these items can be purchased at PX store but I want to wear the brand of bra I'm more comfortable wearing. I just want to know if I should bring more sports bras and just 1 full cup size bra, or is it vice versa?
I don't have any courage to ask this question to the male recruiters in the office :)
I'm going to boot camp on Feb. 13 ^_^

While it has been a few years since I went through navy boot camp, I do know that you should bring as many SPORTS BRAS as you can get your hands on as you'll be running every weekday morning out on the "grinder" and you'll want to minimize the bounce and "jiggle."
Your delicates are stored in drawers in your locker, and they are not viewed by anyone other than you. They are not part of your "locker inspection." The numbers outlined to you are offered as examples and really only serve to A) detail the COLOR of the bra (no red bras under white tee shirts) and B) to discourage an outrageous amount of lingerie a recruit might bring as you have only two drawers in your locker and that is where your undies, wallet, and sundries go.
To be frank, the male recruiters probably wouldn't know the difference between a sports bra and victoria's secret's newest addition.
Good luck to you, or, rather, I wish you fair winds and following seas.

The first one sounds more like it. When I went through, it was 5 white cotton full cup bras and 2 white sports bras. I went out and bought these items, and when I went through processing the first night, the RDCs had all the females ship their stuff that they bought home. Then, within the next few days they marched us down to the NEX on the base with our little packet of chits and had us buy the bras that were there. It depends on your RDCs, honestly, because my female RDC was a bit of a butch and she didn't seem to understand that bras don't come in one size fits all! Since I'm top-heavy, I usually had to wear all of those flimsy bras at once just to get any kind of support. If I were you, I'd go ahead and buy the bras before you get to boot camp, just to be prepared. If they make you send them back, then at least you have bras waiting on you when you get out. It is highly likely they will make you send them back anyway, but the ones you'll have to buy at the NEX won't cost you any money, just chits. Hope this helps.

Don't bring anything like Victorias secret because some girls steel bras and underwear (i know gross), but I saw it happen in my divison. All of your clothes get washed with everybody elses and you put your undergarments in ditty bags so you can distinguish yours from othes. After bootcamp you will want to throw all of your undergarments out and get new cause they will be pretty worn and nasty.
I brought about 6 or more sports bras and 1 or 2 regulars. You want regulars for things like your pictures and pass and review when you wear your dressier uniforms, they look better than sports bras do.

Truthfully you can bring any kind you want, because when you get there they will tell you if that is the kind you need. You will always be wrong in boot camp. Its just boot camp it will end quick enough, don't worry about that kind of small stuff. You can always ask you recruiter.

Girl, if you don't have the courage to ask your recruiter, you have no business in the military. Call your recruiter and ASK. And didn't your recruiter give you a comprehensive list of what to bring and what not to bring? He/she should have. Ask for that too.

There shouldn't be a problem as long as it is white and plain. As long as you don't attract attention, you'll be OK.
