Pretty much true. At least that seems to be the way it happens.

I have definitely heard that people who cheat have a higher percentage chance of doing it again and that if they cheat again the chance of them cheating again is an even higher percentage. Mind you I can't find anything to back this up as valid fact. Actually most statistics indicate that gathering accurate information about infidelity is practically impossible, which makes perfect sense when cheating is based on lying to begin with. Makes it kind of difficult to have accurate facts to back up statistics for cheating.

Though it does make pretty common sense that someone who has cheated is likely to do it again. For one it becomes easier to repeat something like that once you have stepped out there and done it. This I have seen from experience from someone I know who cheated. Fortunately I never have, but then you have to believe me on that and you don't even know me.

Hence the big problem. In some situations you may never know someone cheated. At least in this one you know they did, but only because you were involved in it. I would be more prone to believe someone wouldn't cheat again if they were upfront and honest about it with you. I would be less prone to believe someone would remain faithful in the situation where they cheated on someone else with you, but that is just me.

I want to believe someone can cheat and become a trustworthy spouse, but they really have to show the initiative and honesty that prove that fact.

Open communication is always the key. Do you believe that you or he could tell each other if you were attracted to someone else before something happened? If you can talk about things and really truly communicate deeply then anything is possible. If you feel you have to keep things from each other and are afraid to let out certain secrets then cheating again seems highly likely to me.

I have never been physically cheated on, that I know of, but I was married to someone who lusted after another person which led to our divorce. Communication was the failing point in that.

It winds up being the risk you have to take, but you have to decide if it is worth it.

She has cheated before I have cheated after marriage. I will not cheat again. I sometimes have my suspicions about her cheating again. Because of the past I think there will always be suspicions. I know she loves me and I know I love her. With hat said, I do my best to leave my insecurity out of it. If you let insecurity and suspicions take over then there is no relationship to be had. I just have to believe that she loves me enough not to throw US away. I hope you can find that comfort as well. There is no definite answer to your question.

The sad fact is that even if you have reformed and are completely trustworthy for the rest of your life, your partner will never forget that you once were a cheater...and will never be able to 100% trust you.

No! It depends on the person and the situation! We are human and we can all make mistakes, so it depends. Not everyone does it again, they actually learn from there mistakes and stop. They sometimes lose something that they loved so much and it hurts them so bad that they have no choice but to learn!

Well, duh. If he was dishonest with his last girlfriend or spouse, then what makes you think that he will suddenly turn into a completely honest person when he is with you? A leopard cannot change his spots.
