Hi us brits pay around £2 for a capuccino starting at £1.75 for a small £2 for a regular and around £2.50 for a goldfish bowl size.

We like big large leather sofas, copies of the hello and ok magazines, crayfish, salmon, ham, cheese, sandwiches either toasted or not and panines. Lots of different cookies and cakes. Water still and sparkling and a selection of overpriced handcooked crisps (chips to you). Selection of art on the walls that can be bought.

We do not like dirty tables, ignorant staff you cannot communicate with, dirty toilets, coffee spillages and things being overpriced. We generally wont mention bad service we just don't go back.

In the US, you can easily pay $4-5 for a large cup. Personally, I'd only pay $2.50 tops. Ergo, I don't get cappacinos out. But, I do get regular coffees or herbal teas.

I don't like pretentious places or places where you feel hurried or rushed. No crazy drinks that I can't pronounce or far out food.

There is a coffee shop near my house that I love. Good variety of coffees, teas, scones/pastries, soup and sandwiches. That's it.
You order your food and then go to one of two separate rooms with soft jazz, sofas, comfy chairs and small tables and chairs. There are also a few comfy chairs set up in front of the picture window so you can people watch. It feels like a big living room.
They also have chess nite and a monthly book club!

Oh, and they have crayons and paper for the kiddies. Yep, moms like coffee too and sometimes want to bring their kids!

Many people dish out close to $5.00 american for a capucinno at Starbucks, so I would say $3.50 or so american. I love cafes that have a variety of goods they offer like sandwiches, desserts, beer, and wine. Good local musicians are a nice touch in the evenings and soft music during the day. Couches comfortable seating, wireless internet, checkers or chess at the tables, just a place you can sit back, relax, and unwind.

$2.50-$3.00 American. But it better be a bigger cup. What I hate about coffee shops is the lack of food besides sweet stuff. Sandwiches of some kind would be good, and definitely soups. And be sure to offer iced tea for us people who rarely drink coffee but love the atmosphere of a coffee shop.

$5 or $6

I hate hard chairs, dirty bathrooms, shortage of napkins and surly teenage waitstaff.

I love the smell of coffee & pastries, to drink out of sturdy mugs, to have different newspapers to peruse.

Please have something without caffeine for the pregnant ladies or children, too!!

Best of luck to you. Oh, fresh flowers, even just a few daisies are pretty.

honestly, you should be asking yourself, 'what is the least i can charge and still cover costs?' at least while you are opening, you need to bring customers. quality and fair pricing will draw them. after you have a steady core of regulars, you can raise the price. i personally keep one to three customer favorites priced low to encourage regulars. they come for their favorite item and spend money on other things. they bring friends and talk about how lovely my restaurant is. you will make more money by charging less and selling more than competitors, especially on coffee.
