Such behaviour points to insecurities and an eagerness to please or be a part of something. Very few people are comfortable with silence in company but fortunately most can find something to busy themselves or their minds with. While she rattles on, amuse yourself with thoughts or things that you like doing. If she says you are not listening just tell her honestly you were not paying attention. You are used to the one-way conversations she has with herself. Joke about it without anger or blame and she'll soon realize that it's overwhelming. If you get angry or fed-up she'll get more anxious and uncomfortable which will only lead to more rattling.

Pretty much quiting is all you can do. You could talk to personal but usually that does not work out well. or you could say nicely to her " I have work to do and i need to concentrate on it" odds are she will not hear you but it may work you feel better. I worked with someone when i was flat broke that spent the whole time talking about what she bought or her parents bought. I tired to stay busy far away from her. But it was impossible to get their to stop. I had one job where i talked to much mostly because that was the only way I could stay sane. often I would talk and not even really notice it. but I was aware how annoying I was and we all made jokes about it.
Good luck!

I feel you girl! I have the same freaking problem! My co-worker goes on and on about stupid things and likes to gossip! I try to ignore her. If you can't afford to quit your job then just be serious with her. Look at your watch whenever she talks to you and if she asks you if your in a rush just reply by politely saying, " I just have alot of work...but let's talk later" This co-worker thinks she may be on a level of friendship with you and just make it clear to her that you are only there to work and not socialize. You can tell her something like, "Hey, I'd love to talk to you more but I have to get work done...but let's get coffee sometime and we'll talk." Trust me...it'll work!

Keep ignoring her, and only answer the important questions concerning your duty. If she repeats answer very short and keep busy. Otherwise tell he, she is keeping you of work and you would like to get done before you actually are supposed to leave and that she is keeping you from doing so. The truth usually works the best.

Tell her that you are sorry but you really don't feel like talking right now because you have a lot on your mind. If that does not work, put your head on the desk everytime she comes near you.

She may not be aware that she is hindering your work.
Ever thought of telling her? Something along the line of: Perhaps we can talk during lunch; but for now, I need to finish this. Then smile and proceed with you job.

That's a tough one. I'd just keep on doing what you're doing; hopefully she'll get the hint soon enough.
Best of luck!

Ask her if she has ever hear of anyone in your company "going postal" because someone else talks incessantly about nothing.

Tell her, politely, that it is taking you too long to finish your work while engaged in conversation.
