He's old enough to act but may not be able to produce yet...but just put him around a ready female and he'll do his part, he might just be shooting blanks because of his age.

Are you a professional breeder? Unless you are a professional (which by your question makes me think you're not), you should not be breeding animals. Why do you want to breed him and add to the overflowing pet population? Thousands upon thousands of animals are euthanized every day because the pounds are overflowing and there are not enough people interested in adopting!

Think twice about it and please have him fixed, he will be a MUCH happier dog, and you will be a MUCH happier owner! If cost is an issue, many vets will offer specials on it - that is how important it is! Volunteer at a shelter for a day to see what happens when pets don't get fixed. Puppies are only adorable for a few days, until they get into everything and become a hassle. These are lives that are in your hands, a big responsibility! If you can't sell or give them all away, are you prepared to care for them all for the rest of their lives?

Please spare your dog from Mating. Go to the Humane Society and you will see plenty of dogs looking for a home. And it's best to go to a vet to discuss this. Please don't make any decisions like this on your own. So many dogs need homes and end up dying because they don't have a home. So why add more to this population. Lets take care of the one's that are on the earth today. When they start becoming endangered species- then that's the time to breed, but not now. Good luck.

Why do you want to breed this dog? Before you do anything, but neuter this animal, take the time to educate yourself. I especially recommend you spend some time at local animal shelters, check into breed rescue services, and even take a peek at www.petfinder.org. Once you have done this, I hope you'll think about NOT contributing the the enormous number of homeless pets already in this world.

Take him to the vet and have him neutered!! Why would you want to breed your dog is he a grand champion and will he make the breed better!!!! Has he had his hips xrayed and been tested and given a clean bill of health by the vet!!! If he is only 8 months old and you are asking this question then you have no business breeding anything!

Get him nuetered and soon. Unless your dog is a champion, he shouldn't reproduce and doesn't need those "extra" parts.
