everything must be washed before eating

considering when the apples are in the store, people pick them up and look at them and if they don't like the way it looks they put it back. now if someone has been shopping and pushing a cart their hands are not clean since shopping carts carry the most germs in the world. so washing the apple before eating it is always the best bet, and it only takes a minute. better safe than sorry. you wouldn't want to get some kind of illness from eating a dirty apple, would you?

It's always a good idea to wash fruits and vegetables prior to eating, when you can. Often you will see a whitish glaze on them, which the stores claim is a vegetable-based protective coating that's safe to eat. They are probably right, but why not wash the food anyway? They even say we can eat the plastic labels, because they are also biodegradable. But I think it's best not to. However, this said, if the produce is organic (no poisons, no sprays) and you cannot was before eating, you'll be fine.

It's your stomach, you don't have to wash anything, but I do. Fruits and vegetables are sprayed with chemicals when they are growing and developing on the farm. THey are handled by lots and lots of hands, some clean, some not. Once in the store, consider how many shoppers will handle the fruit and put it back in the box or rack.

Now you tell me, should you wash apples before you eat them?

All produce should be washed before you eat it. You should not only rinse it, but rub it as well. The rubbing is what gets rid of the germs, etc. Think about all the people who stood at the apples and picked your apple up, examined it, and put it back. Definately wash it.

I would put the beans in the fridge or crisper portion and then enjoy them tomorrow night. The cabbage doesn't need any plastic wrap until you cut into it...then wrap the cut edges. When you go to use it again, you might need to cut a thin slice off the cut edges to remove slight browning. Cabbage can last almost a month if kept in the crisper. Mushrooms can be a problem! Wrap in a container and cover with plastic wrap - or try the others' idea of a paper bag. (I hadn't heard that one before.) I'd saute them with a little butter and red wine by next weekend. If they don't fit into your dinner plans by then, cook them anyway and then freeze. Regular onions shouldn't be refrigerated, but green onions/scallions keep much better in the frig/crisper in plastic wrap. Enjoy your farm fresh veggies before the frost/snow comes!

I would wash it first before eating. Some apples may contain food grade wax and other chemicals. If you are purchasing organic apple, then it's ok not to wash it.

There is nothing preventing you from eating them... Provided you are content eating chemicals and pesticides go for it. It only takes a second to wash it off... Healthier in the long run.

Now try and think about this question for a minute... Do you have any knowledge of where the store employee has last had his/her hands? Wash everything you put into your mouth, That includes your girlfriend...

Just think about how many people have handled that one peice of fruit. If that isn't a reason to wash supermarket fruit I don't know what is. Yucky!
